Seville's Streets, Easter Procession, and Flamenco Workshop takes students into the heart and soul of Seville Spain, one of Europe's most dynamic cities and the cultural epicenter of the Andalucía region. During this week of dozens of Easter processions-students will be exposed to one of the most dramatic, moving, and visual scenes of a lifetime in what is already one of the most colorful, interesting cities in the world. Seville is a lively mixture of old world charm and new world energy, full of winding medieval lanes, secluded stone plazas soaked in the scent of orange blossom, and a fascinating blend of Islamic, Roman, and Renaissance architecture, it is a city steeped in romance and tradition, a place that prides itself as the the ancestral home of Flamenco and bullfighting in Spain. It is also an energetic cosmopolitan center, famous for its lively tapas bars, its pulsating nightlife, and its stylish residents.

"Peter Turnley, a renowned international
photojournalist and teacher of street photography
will offer two new master classes in one of the
worlds’ most visual cities. There are daily lectures
and presentations by Peter Turnley and distinguished
members of the New York photographic community.
The workshop meets daily for approx. 3-4 hours at
Peter’s apartment in Harlem. Students will be pushed
to choose a theme of life and spend half of each day
photographing that theme. Peter will provide a wide
list of photographic themes. Themes can be broad
such as the life of Times Square, Harlem, Central
Park, Madison Ave., Soho, the West Village, etc., or
can be narrower such as the life of one street corner,
or musicians in the subway, etc. Peter spends 30
minutes daily with each student reviewing and
editing the previous days work. Student will work
towards establishing a 15-image picture story or
photo essay and the workshop culminates with a
final show on Saturday morning..."

"This Paris-based master class is led by Peter Turnley, a renowned photojournalist and author of Parisians. Turnley covers the world major news stories; his work has been on the cover of Newsweek more than 40 times. This course is for students with a serious interest in photography, but it is also directed at students with a range of academic backgrounds including journalism, political science, sociology, history, and French language and literature. Students are exposed to the traditions and masters of photography, in the manner of the photography of Paris including Doisneau, Atget, and Strand and create a photo essay on a theme of their choice. The course draws on the resources of Paris including the Foundation Henri Cartier-Bresson, and a range of museums and galleries..."

"Join us for a week-long workshop in which you will photograph during the excitement, tumult, and chaos of festival time in Calcutta, India. Durga Pooja only happens in one Indian city Calcutta. This workshop takes place during a time of visual wonderment in one of the worlds’ most exotic and amazing cities. In Hindu tradition, the goddess Durga comes to earth for a brief nine day visit every year. The entire city-and those of all religions pray and celebrate her arrival. With the guidance of Peter Turnley, one of the worlds’ pre-imminent photojournalists and workshop teachers, we will explore street photography in Calcutta during the festival days as thousands of people take to the streets in a unique combination of prayer and celebration..."
